Caution: Breathing exercises presented here are not for people with osteoporosis, osteopenia, or fragile bones. If you have a history of tumors, pneumothorax, or hemothorax, you will need to seek medical advice and/or supervision prior to performing any breathing exercises.
Purpose: To provide longer rest periods for inhalation and exhalation muscles, resulting in stronger breathing muscles and improved breathing rhythm.
Schedule: Perform Breathing Exercise Stages 12 - 14 together in one session.
Start: Begin by sitting down in a comfortable, upright position with your feet placed firmly on the ground.
Step 1: Inhale a full breath and hold it for as long as you can.
Step 2: Exhale completely and hold it for as long as you can. Prolong the holding intervals for as long as you can until you really feel the urge to inhale or exhale (this is similar to fasting in order to restore appetite).
End: Rest after 5 minutes. Try holding your breath longer and longer as it provides a forced vacation for your hardworking breathing muscles.
Observe: Automatic and rhythmic breathing with longer exhalation and easier inhalation.
Progress: Congratulations, you have completed all of the Breathing Exercises! Please continue on to the Organ Region Decongestion Exercises when you are ready.
